Significance of Teacher Education

Introduction

We all know that education is very important for all of us. The more educational growth the more development of a nation will be. Unless receiving proper education one cannot go through properly into critical thinking, insight learning, discoveries and inventions. Education is to pave the way for research and development, which in turn helps in growth of all across the field. Education is the process of achieving knowledge and moral habits that ensure precise application of solution to the problem, an educated society will be civilized and always seeks innovation and unity in diversity. Regardless of creed, colour and religion education lead us to learn to know, learn to do, learn to live together and learn to achieve.

Teacher education

Our modern society demands a very high quality of learning activities from teacher and teacher educator, so it is all the responsibility of educational institutions to ensure quality education to all across the board. Teachers have to possess and update emerging knowledge and skills in terms of teaching and impart knowledge to students’ communities in order to meet the demands put forth by present society. Learning is a continuous process for all of us; we learn something from textbooks and from life experience that goes on till the end of life, hence learning insists on the importance of education. Learning of new concepts promotes teachers skills, master new methodology, enhance teaching proficiency, develop new knowledge, application of learned skills in a different context which in turn helps improve students’ learning, participation and all round development. Through integrated traditional and modern teaching methodology. Teacher education helps teacher trainees to achieve their higher level, targeted goal, and they will become fruitful to the society, which leads to growth and development all across the area starting from agriculture to information technology.

Teacher education refers to the knowledge acquisition and development of a holistic nature which entails skills, methods, classroom management that equip the teachers towards effective performance and make positive behavior modifications among students. Teacher education ensures that development of all the skills required performing smoothly in the classroom settings. Teacher training program can be classified into three major categories, first understanding of child psychology which is vital for individual care second developmental period in which integration of skills and methods systematically organized finally all learned skills must be applied in the field of real time teaching experience, i.e. field based program in which teacher trainee meet the students directly and guide them as per their natural abilities.

Task of teacher education

1. Motivating the teacher to get an understanding of child psychology.

The main objectives of teacher education is to impart child psychology to teachers that enable them to understand diverse learners and individual needs which is essential for a democratic way of approach in the diversified classroom. By learning psychology teachers tend to know about individual differences among students and he or she learns to adapt a great deal of teaching methods and skills as per students’ natural abilities so that pupils can reach their level of attainment. Child psychology ensures to meet the needs of three major categories of students, i.e. average, below average and above-average students to bring holistic learning among pupils.

2. Imparting an adequate knowledge to the students

It ensure the development of a good command over subject matters that is most essential for facing the ongoing problems

3. Equipping teacher with pedagogical skills

Pedagogy refers to the teaching of Arts and Science, the skills necessary for each subject is practiced under an artificially created environment in which teacher trainees learn pedagogical approach

4. Promote self confidence among teacher

One should have self confidence in teaching then only he or she can perform well in the context of what they planned to perform in the classroom environment.

5. Improving communication skills.

Another main objective of teacher education is to impart a communication skill among teachers. As it is an act as a gate for getting knowledge and proper covering of message one must understand the importance of communication. Teacher education emphasizes on getting good communication skills through training.

 6. Developing classroom management.

Teacher education gives importance in monitoring diversified learners, identifying problems and solving them. Teachers must have constant interaction with the students that will allow them to keep in track with a focused learning process.

7. Maintaining a cordial relationship with teachers and students.

Teacher education helps to develop a good rapport with parents and pupils. So that smooth functioning can be established in all aspects that will lay the foundation for a desirable outcome.

Teaching profession is the most great service to human beings. Everyone must understand the significance of teacher education which connects the world together and allows us to live with peace and harmony.
